Muhammad Ameen Keryo pioneered Constructed Wetlands in Pakistan, led 200+ eco-projects, champions GBV & PSEA policies, and consults for UN, WHO, and WWF on sustainable solutions.

He is a globally recognized environmentalist, social reformer, and humanitarian whose pioneering contributions have transformed the landscape of sustainable development in Pakistan. 

With over 30 years of dedicated service in community development, water and sanitation, environmental conservation, and social protection, Mr. Keryo stands as a beacon of hope and action for vulnerable communities

Pioneering Sustainable Wastewater Treatment in Pakistan

MAJEED KEERIO WETLAND FIRST IN PAKISTAN

One of his most celebrated achievements is his introduction of Constructed Wetlands in Pakistan. 

At a time when conventional sewage systems were failing, especially in rural and underserved urban areas, he introduced low-cost, eco-friendly alternatives that revolutionized wastewater management in the country.

Under his guidance, over 200 Constructed Wetland units have been implemented across Pakistan. These systems are not only cost-effective but also environmentally sustainable, significantly improving local ecosystems and public health conditions. 

His pioneering work set a national benchmark, earning recognition from numerous national and international bodies.

Leading the Sindhica Reforms Society

Founded in 1993 by Mr. Keryo, the SRS started as a grassroots initiative in a small village and has grown into a nationally recognized organization. Under his visionary leadership,Through strategic partnerships with leading global organizations like UNDP, UNFPA,

UNICEF, Pathfinder International, USAID, WHO, and The Asia Foundation, SRS has become a model organization in Pakistan’s non-profit and development sectors

Mr. Keryo’s vision is not limited to environmental conservation. He is a master trainer and expert in Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA)

His work in this domain has led to the development of comprehensive policies and practical implementation frameworks at the organizational and community levels.

Under his leadership, SRS became one of the few NGOs in Pakistan to adopt a robust PSEA policy, setting a regional standard for ethical engagement and safeguarding practices.

He serves as Country Coordinator for The FSM Alliance, leading sanitation technology assessments in Pakistan. He has also worked as Campaign Support Person for WHO, Technical Advisor for Karachi Sab Ka, and Project Coordinator for UNHCR-UNFPA flood response projects.

International Representation & Recognition

His work has been presented at numerous international forums, conferences, and UN platforms. His focus on integrating environmental sustainability with social equity has influenced policies and projects in other developing nations as well.
